Linda Ellis’ poem, The Dash, is a popular reading at funerals. “The Dash” has inspired millions, but DON’T SHARE IT WITH ANYONE! Since then, The Dash has been published hundreds of times in books, newspapers, magazines, and company newsletters. In 239 words, she captured the simple truths of why we were put on this earth. No offence was meant and we did not think sharing a little of the poem was going to be such an issue. When Linda Ellis wrote the poem in one afternoon in 1996, she had no idea that it would change her life forever. This a great video that captures the work of Linda Ellis. It was awful and you can imagine we were concerned. I read of a man who stood to speak at a funeral of a friend. She then offered to settle for a $7,500 payoff if we wanted to avoid litigation, the heavier fine and criminal penalties. Instead of asking us to remove the poem or sending us a ‘Cease and Desist’ letter, Ellis threatened to sue Fuze in a USA court for $150,000 in damages plus legal fees. In these emails the author accused us of theft, plagiarism and copyright infringement.
